Fir Room

Here in the Fir Room our main focus every day is to maintain structure and routine whilst making learning motivating and fun!

We currently have 8 pupils, ranging from P3 to P6 and their learning is supported by a teacher, a CDW and a LA each day.  Mrs Pleasance teaches the class on a Monday – Wednesday, and Mrs Smith teaches the class on a Thursday and a Friday.  This job share works really well.

The Fir Room is one class within the Glenable provision at Gore Glen and our pupils have a range of additional support needs.  Our pupils thrive on routine and we devote each morning to literacy and numeracy, interwoven with other curricular areas to keep learning exciting, motivating and interesting. Learning is always fun and active.  In the afternoons we focus our attention on interdisciplinary learning and love to immerse ourselves in topic related work as well as visiting the sensory room, soft play and cooking.  We also spend time out in our community each week, for example visiting the Bright Sparks Centre or taking part in Riding for the Disabled.

The Fir Room is a fun and happy place to learn and all our pupils thrive in this small and supported environment.
