Glenable is a Midlothian Council Complex Needs provision based within Gore Glen Primary School. We have 3 classes ranging from P1-P7.  All children within Glenable have been placed, on a shared placement basis with their mainstream primary school, by the Placement Advisory Group (PAG).

Our staff team consists of Mrs Sam Smith (Principal Teacher), Miss Rhianydd Parry (Oak Room class teacher), Mrs Linda Gillespie (Elm Room Teacher) and Mrs Leigh Pleasance (Fir Room class teacher), together with 6 support staff.

Children in Glenable are motivated and keen to learn. There is a positive and nurturing ethos throughout the school which helps make the children feel valued and safe. Through differentiated, well planned (often individualised) programmes, children also have opportunities for Co-operative Learning, cross stage learning and Visible Learning.

These experiences provide our children with opportunities to develop skills for learning, life and work.  Learning skills are also being developed across all areas of the curriculum.  Reflection time is built into the weekly timetable and evidence of learning is kept in a personal folio. Co-operative learning and active learning through play approaches have been developed and embedded into learning and teaching.  Work in interdisciplinary learning is allowing children to transfer knowledge and skills. Children also participate in weekly Bright Sparks visits, outdoor learning and life skills experiences and riding lessons in conjunction with Drum Riding for the Disabled from January to June each year.
